U2 | With or Without You

Here is a great easy classic song for you to learn. With the exception of the Bm barre chord this song is very simple. If you haven’t learned barre chords yet you might want to start taking a look at them. This song really only has one so it would be a great place to start learning how to switch in and out of barre chords to open chords.

U2 was huge in the late to early 90′s and has become a classic band. Most people would recognize their songs just from playing a few chords. However, this one is a little different since “the Edge” is playing with a lot of effects.

Yamaha C40

My Review Of The Yamaha C40 Classical Guitar

By: John Sizemore

I used to take I guess what you’d call rock guitar lessons when I first started out like most teenage boys. However, after about two years of lessons my guitar instructor got a studio musician gig and stopped teaching. Now, I believed that he was the best teacher and if I was going to continue taking guitar lessons I’d better take lessons completely different. That’s when I decided to learn classical guitar. I must admit I struggled at first. I was so used to just picking up the guitar and rippin up and down the neck. I was too fond of learning “green sleeves” and beginner Christmas songs just to learn true music notation. But, I struggled and got through it.

Nirvana | In Bloom

Nirvana was my favorite band in the late 80′s. Since I grew up in Seattle we saw this band almost every weekend for like $4 at colleges and small clubs. We never thought they’d become as huge as they did.

So, here’s a great simple song to really start practicing your power chords. I’m sure most of you who have just started playing guitar played power chords first. It’s the simplest and you can play mostly any chord.

Here Marty from GuitarJamz.com gives you an up close simple lesson on this song. Check it out!

Nickelback | How You Remind Me

This will be a great simple song for you to practice your barre chords. Some of the chords that we use in the song could also be called power chords. Power chords are where you just play two to three notes at a time in a barre chord position. You’re just not playing the whole barre. This makes it much easier. Power chords are great if you want to just start playing the guitar right away. However, to really know the chords you have to understand the notes on the guitar on the 5th and 6th string.

Lady Antebellum | Just A Kiss

I guess you could call me a softy… But, I love this one. It’s not very often that you hear songs where someone’s made a good decision. Anyway, this is a beautiful song that is real easy to play on the guitar.

This would be a great song if you’ve just learned your basic guitar chords and you’re ready to learn a new song. The strumming is very simple and should be something that you would be able to pick up pretty quickly.

Here Julie Mayers from Mahalo.com I think teaches this one very well. So, take your time and be patient. This is a great country song! :)
