For a novice, acoustic guitar strings may resemble just another wire. However, these strings form an important part of the guitar and the sweet sound can be largely based on the string type. The guitar strings are available in different gauges or diameter such as 0.058” and 0.047”.

The gauges are responsible for the volume, the pitch that can be achieved, and so on. They can also be coated with different coatings. Out of all the various coatings, Teflon is considered as the best. The advantage of coated strings is that the coating helps avoid the screeching sound.
