However, you really need to know what style of acoustic guitar you want to ultimately play. Most contemporary acoustic guitar players choose finger-style rather than using a pick. Generally they prefer this method to be able to pluck more than one string at a time. Now, this can also be done using a combination of a pick and your fingers. So, I believe it’s important to learn both. I would recommend learning with a guitar pick at first. Let’s take a look at the two methods and I’ll explain why.

Which Guitar Chords Should I Learn First?

When you first start out to learn the guitar I believe it’s very important to try and have fun! After all it’s very awkward when first learning how to finger the guitar chords. Many guitar instructors have their own way of teaching students which guitar chords to learn first.  However, all of them have their different benefits to the specific type of learner you are.  There’s the CAGED method that can be used in many various ways.  There is also the method of teaching chords like A, E & D which actually make it easier to finger the chords.  Then there’s the traditional method of learning all 7 chords with in a key.
