Slash To Auction Superbowl Guitar
One of the greatest guitarist of our time is going to be auctioning off quite a bit of gear on March 22nd 2011. One item that has struck my interest is a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar with mother of pearl inlaid mahogany neck, marked “Artist Proof 01.” Together with three performance used purple guitar picks. Slash dropped to the stage and played “Sweet Child O’ Mine” on this guitar with Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas during the 2011 Superbowl halftime show. Housed in a Gibson Custom hard case with a magenta crushed velvet lining.

A Brief History of This Guitar Remake

Many people arguably believe this model of guitar was the guitar played on the Guns & Roses “Appetite for Destruction” album from 1987. This guitar has been called the “Appetite Guitar”. I actually believe he recorded with a different Les Paul listening to the arguments over the years it just makes sense that this is not the guitar played on the album. However, it is quite apparent that it was played live almost at every concert in 1988 when the album hit the big time!
What is This Remake Guitar Worth?
So, what do think this guitar will go for? New & signed this guitar lists for $11,999.00! Now, if this is what it’s going price for a signed guitar? What do you think it will go at auction? I’m guessing the bidding will start @ $20,000! Pretty cool guitar from a legend. But, not worth it in my book. Fergie did not do that song justice, which will not make it very memorable.
